Coleman Instant Tent Reviews
The reviews for the Coleman 6-Person Instant Tent are pretty good over all with one major concern. We’ll start off with the positive points. One of the most positive attributes of this tent that a lot of people pointed out was that it was extremely fast and easy to set up. One person said that when they received this tent they took it out and timed themselves to see how long it would take to set up. They said that it took 1 min. and 10 seconds the very first time they ever set it up. When they took it camping later they were able to set it up even faster, in less than 1 min.
Setting the tent up is extremely easy, tearing it down is a little bit more difficult but not too bad and it does fit easily back into the carrying bag. There is a lot of space inside this tent and plenty of headroom. One review came from someone who is 5’9″ tall and said that they can walk around inside this tent without stooping down.
The one complaint about the Coleman 6-Person Instant Tent that came up again and again is that it is not waterproof the way they claim it is. The sales materials will tell you that a rain fly is not needed but many of the reviews will tell you the opposite. One person said that during a slight downpour they had water trickling in from the walls and they ended up with two small puddles inside the tent. In the instructions that come with the tent they do say that the tent will sweat but a lot of reviewers are reporting a lot more water penetrating the tent then just a little sweating or condensation.
There were some reviewers that said they had no problem with leakage at all and that the tent did stay dry. One person said they had multiple thunderstorms and “not one drop of rain got into the tent”. However, the number of people that said they experienced rain and stayed dry were outnumbered by the people that said a little bit of rain ended up getting them and their stuff wet.
A lot of people feel that the build quality of the tent is good and that its roominess and its ease in setting up make the Coleman 6-Person Instant Tent a very good tent but with so many people reporting leaking issues we would caution you about purchasing this tent if you are planning on using it when rain is a possibility.
