Pathiramanal is a small island in vembanad lake in Alappuzha district of Kerala.It means ‘The Sands of Night’. The serene beauty of the lake and the island is rare some. A large variety of migrant birds is another scenic view of this island.The island is also known as bird watcher’s paradise.
4.Krishnapuram Palace
Krishnapuram Palace is a Palace museum located in Kayamkulam,Alappuzha district.It was buit during 18th century. The Palace is equipped with various mural paintings especially a 154 square feet (14.3m2)size painting named “Gajendra Moksham” , which is considered as the largest such painting find in Kerala.
Another speciality is a double edged sword named ”kayamkulam vaal” is displayed in the Palace.
5.Nehru Trophy Boat Race
Nehru trophy boat race is a popular boat race held in the Punnamada lake near Alappuzha district.It is a scenic view of long ”chundan vallam” snake boats of 130 feet long with 100 rowers,4 helmsmen and 25 cheer leaders racing along with numerous such boats through the lake with vibes of rhythmic music colorful umbrellas. This is one of the main event in Alappuzha Tourist destinations.
